Clever Scam – taking advantage of older men
Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves
at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first
warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on
in case you haven’t heard about it. This will only become
more commonplace as the weather warms.A ‘heads up’ for those men who may be regular Lowe’s, Home Depot,
or Costco customers. This one caught me by surprise.Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping.
Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite
traumatic. Don’t be naive enough to think it couldn’t happen to you or your friends. Here’s how the scam works:
Two seriously good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car as you are
packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex,
with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank
them and offer them a tip, they say ‘No’ and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds. You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing.
Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you,
while the other one steals your wallet.I had my wallet stolen November 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th,17th, 20th, 24th, &
29th. Also December 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th,
and 30th, three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage of older men.
Warn your friends to be vigilant.Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for $1.99 at K- Mart and
bought them out. Also, you never will get to eat at McDonalds. I’ve already
lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Costco.
Hand dryers
I do not know if this is actually true, Snopes has it as undetermined, and Truth or Fiction says nothing about it. I never like using then anyway, they never get your hands dry in the first place.
Hand dryers
Everyone in the cleaning industry has always been told that hand dryers in restrooms are not sanitary, they spread germs and bacteria around. I always thought that this just came from the paper companies because they are loosing sales to the hand dryers. A couple of years ago, I was working with a rep, and I noticed that after he washed his hands and noticed that there were no paper towels, only a hand dryer he left the restroom with wet hands. I asked him about it. He said that hand dryers blow a lot of germs and bacteria around. He also told me to take a look under the hand dryer next time I was in a restroom. There is a filter underneath the hand dryer that is supposed to be cleaned on a weekly basis. I looked at one and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. It had layers and layers of caked on gunk (disgusting). Since then I will not use hand dryers in restrooms. Now this is where the story gets really interesting. The schools and universities that have had the H1N1 (swine flue) outbreak this year are being told by the health department that they have to take out all of their hand dryers and replace them with towel dispensers because the hand dryers are spreading disease. Please pass this along so everyone knows not to use hand dryers.
PSA
If you are bothered by occasional or frequent constipation, look in the mirror and repeat the following phrase three times in succession when symptoms occur:
My present and future financial and personal well being are totally in the hands of
Barack Obama
If that doesn’t scare the crap out of you, then you are probably destined to
be backed up for the rest of your life.
There is no need to thank me for this advice; I’m just doing it as a public
service.

After tossing her books on the sofa, she
decided to
grab a snack and get on-line. She logged on under
her screen name ByAngel213. She checked her Buddy
List and saw GoTo123 was on.
She sent him an instant message:ByAngel213:
Hi. I’m glad you are on! I thought someone was
following me home today. It was really weird!GoTo123:

don’t want them mad at me. Bye!GoTo123:
Catch you later. ByeMeanwhile…….GoTo123 went to the member menu
and began to search for her profile. When it
came up, he highlighted it and printed it
out. He took out a pen and began to write down what
he knew about Angel so far.Her name: Shannon
Birthday: Jan. 3, 1985
Age: 13
State where she lived: North CarolinaHobbies: softball, chorus, skating and going to
the mall. Besides this information, he knew she
lived in Canton because she had just told him.
He knew she stayed by herself until 6:30 p.m. every
afternoon until her parents came home from work.
He knew she played softball on Thursday afternoons
on the school team, and the team was named the
Canton Cats. Her favorite number 7 was printed on
her jersey. He knew she was in the eighth grade at the
Canton Junior High School She had told him all this in
the conversations they had on-line. He had enough
information to find her now.Shannon didn’t tell her parents about the incident on
the way home from the ballpark that day. She didn’t
want them to make a scene and stop her from
walking home from the softball games. Parents were
always overreacting and hers were the worst. It made
her wish she was not an only child. Maybe if she
had brothers and sisters, her parents wouldn’t
be so overprotective.By Thursday, Shannon had forgotten about the
footsteps following her.Her game was in full swing when suddenly she
felt someone staring at her. It was then that the
memory came back. She glanced up from her second
base position to see a man watching her closely. He was leaning against the fence behind first base
and he smiled when she looked at him. He didn’t
look scary and she quickly dismissed the sudden fear
she had felt. After the game, he sat on a bleacher while she talked
to the coach. She noticed his smile once again as she
walked past him. He nodded and she smiled back. He
noticed her name on the back of her shirt. He knew he
had found her.Quietly, he walked a safe distance behind her. It was
only a few blocks to Shannon ‘s home, and once
he saw where she lived he quickly returned to the
park to get his car..Now he had to wait. He decided to get a bite to eat
until the time came to go to Shannon ‘s house.
He drove to a fast food restaurant and sat there
until time to make his move.Shannon was in her room later that evening when
she heard voices in the living room.“Shannon, come here,” her father called. He
sounded upset and she couldn’t imagine why.
She went into the room to see the man from
the ballpark sitting on the sofa.“Sit down,” her father began, “this man has
just told us a most interesting story about you.”Shannon sat back. How could he tell her parents
anything? She had never seen him before today!“Do you know who I am, Shannon ?” the man asked.
“No,” Shannon answered.
“I am a police officer and your online friend, GoTo123.”
Shannon was stunned. “That’s impossible! GoTo is a
kid my age! He’s 14. And he lives in Michigan !”The man smiled. “I know I told you all that, but it wasn’t
true. You see, Shannon , there are people on-line
who pretend to be kids; I was one of them. But
while others do it to injure kids and hurt them, I belong
to a group of parents who do it to protect kids
from predators. I came here to find you to teach you
how dangerous it is to talk to people on-line. You
told me enough about yourself to make it easy for me
to find you. You named the school you went to, the
name of your ball team and the position you played.
The number and name on your jersey just made
finding you a breeze.”Shannon was stunned. “You mean you don’t
live in Michigan ?”He laughed. “No, I live in Raleigh It made you feel safe
to think I was so far away, didn’t it?”She nodded.
“I had a friend whose daughter was like you. Only
she wasn’t as lucky. The guy found her and
murdered her while she was home alone.
Kids are taught not to tell anyone when they are
alone, yet they do it all the time on-line. The
wrong people trick you into giving out information
a little here and there on-line. Before you know it,
you have told them enough for them to find you
without even realizing you have done it. I hope you’ve
learned a lesson from this and won’t do it again. Tell
others about this so they will be safe too?”“It’s a promise!”
That night Shannon and her Dad and Mom all
knelt down together and thanked God for protecting
Shannon from what could have been a tragic situation.
The Census
Be careful
Be Cautious About Giving Info to Census Workers
With the U.S. Census process beginning, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) advises
people to be cooperative, but cautious, so as not to become a victim of fraud or identity
theft. The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census is under way as workers have begun
verifying the addresses of households across the country. Eventually, more than 140,000
U.S. Census workers will count every person in the United States and will gather
information about every person living at each address including name, age, gender, race,
and other relevant data. The big question is –
HOW do you tell the difference between a U.S. Census worker and a con artist?
Better Business Bureau offers the following advice:
** If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have
a (1) badge
a (2) handheld device
a (3) Census Bureau canvas bag
a (4) confidentiality notice.
Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions.
However, you should never invite anyone you don’t know into your home.
** Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information.
Do not give your Social Security number, credit card, or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S. Census.
While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, it will not ask for Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers, nor will employees solicit donations.
Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail, or in person at home. However, they will not contact you by Email, so be on the lookout for email scams impersonating the Census. Never click on a link or open any attachments in
an Email that are supposedly from the U.S. Census Bureau.
