Mallery Thurlow is trying to get to Haiti to help the kids she has adopted and helped out through the years.    Her non-profit organization is also trying to get donations to help the relief effort down there.   I added a donation widget on the side bar.  Please help her out and all the kids that she has painstakingly helped.    They are in dire need of money to get supplies

—HAITI UPDATE AND DONATION INFORMATION—

About AA Operations in Haiti

The company’s operations in Haiti will remain closed for at least the next four to five days. U.S. Special Operations forces have reopened Haiti’s airport to allow humanitarian aid; however, the airport remains closed to commercial traffic.

Humanitarian Aid

American and American Eagle are sending aid into Haiti. Three Eagle aircraft (ATRs) arrived in Port-au-Prince yesterday, providing 30,000 pounds of supplies, including water, food and other non-perishable goods. More relief missions are planned for today and Friday.

Donation Opportunities – How you can help

American has also partnered with the American Red Cross to provide aid to people affected by Tuesday’s earthquake through a special offer for AAdvantage members. (links to www.aa.com, where a window will take you to the donation page; AA is providing up to 500 bonus miles for donations)

If you want to help out the people of Haiti, got the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty and donate there.

My name is Mallery Thurlow. I am the Executive Director of the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty, a registered non-profit charity which helps Haitian families deal with issues of poverty across their country. We need your help to make an impact on the recent tragedy which befell this impoverished nation.

We are trying to raise $225,000 to bring and build a mobile medical unit to Port-au-Prince. Any funds donated on this website will go to fund this effort.

Will you help with a donation today?

Following the devastating January 12 earthquake, the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty™ is directing resources to disaster relief and infrastructure repair in Port-au-Prince and the surrounding area. You can donate to support this effort here. Thank you for your support.

2009 marks the 8th Annual Blogger Boobie-Thon.  Bloggers from all over the globe send in photos of their boobies (covered and uncovered) to help raise money for Breast Cancer Research.

In the past seven years we have raised over $50,000.00 for Breast Cancer Research and we are back to do it all again on October 1, 2009!

The 2009 event kicks off on Thursday October 1, 2009 and will run for one full week, ending at 11:59 pm on Wednesday October 7, 2009.  Just as we have done in the past we will be supporting a Bloggers Helping Bloggers charityt as well as Komen.

For more detailed information about the Blogger Boobie-Thon and how it started, please visit The History of the Boobie-Thon written by the Boobie-Thon Founder, Robyn in 2005.  You can also find another “History of the Boobie-thon” at heyfreak.com.
Our Mission

The Boobie-Thon’s mission is to create a fun and lighthearted event that created awareness and raises money for breast cancer research.

Relay for Life

I’m hoping you’ll give me two minutes of your time … to think about cancer. If you fill up your gas tank, you know these are tough economic times. Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t take a break when the economy turns sour.

None of us has to look far to know the toll cancer takes. Some of us only have to look in the mirror.

I’ve decided to Fight Back by forming a team and pledging to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. And I hope you’ll consider joining me by making a contribution (say $5 or $10) to my Relay team. You can do so by clicking the link to my Relay web site at the bottom of this page.

The American Cancer Society is well known for its research investments. Virtually every major cancer breakthrough of the last 60 years can be traced to Society funding.

What you may not know is that the American Cancer Society also provides cancer patients and families access to reliable information and free resources for day-to-day help and emotional support to complement what their doctors and medical facilities provide.

Every contribution, large or small, that my Relay team raises will provide “fuel” for a cancer patient’s journey by funding the Society’s outreach services. Even though we’re all feeling the crunch, I appreciate your consideration of my appeal.

Best,

Doug Welch

P.S. Please feel free to forward this message to any others who may want to join the fight! I promise you that every dollar of your donation will be invested wisely to make a difference. Thank you!

This is a story about a distant family member that is helping the locals in the Amazon forest create more wealth for themselves.  Cool story on how people can help others out of poverty and save the environment.
