The Evil Side of Social Media

With all good things that come around, there are those that use it for evil. Social Media is a great driver of information and ideas. It was instrumental in forming the Tea Party and many other political and social campaigns. Social Media is usually used for good, to meet others of like minded ideas, to get a message out about  a certain news worthy event and much more.

But while it is mostly used for good, there are some that use it for nefarious reasons.  There are those that try and get people banned from social media because they have a different political view. There are those that use it to harass people non stop.  There are those that use it to bring out dirty laundry on someone to embarrass and dehumanize people.

I have been on Twitter and Facebook for a long time and have seen it all. I use to be more involved in politics, but have shied away from it over the past few years. It has become a tribal fight over who has the legitimate idea on how the Conservative Movement needs to go. If you do not agree 100% with someone, you are considered a RINO, or worse.

Then I have seen the utter insanity of attacks on people, for no reason at all. People that are suppose to be on the same side have been going after people with more gusto than trying to defeat the real enemy of the Conservative Movement, the FAR LEFT. It makes you just want to give up and quit politics all together.

Today is Andrew Breitbart’s birthday. He would be ashamed and disgusted at what has become of his legacy. He was the behind the scenes person that keeps the fighting from coming to the forefront.  He was the Happy Warrior and knew that it was the FAR LEFT that was the enemy, not someone that agrees with you 80% of the time.

It mystifies me on how much hate and idiocy has been going on on our side over the past few years. I know I have had my rants and disagreements with others over the years. But I still consider those that I disagree with on a position here or there to be allies. If you agree with me 80% of the time, you are a friend and an ally, not someone that needs to be taken down because you do not agree with me 100%.

I have been trying to stay out of the Twitter Wars and Circular Firing Squads over the past few years, but over the last few weeks it has become intolerable. I do not really want to go into details, or even say the idiots name, but there is a real Shit Disturber than has created havoc over the past few weeks. He needs to be shunned and let his meltdown drive him into the obscurity. Dragging people’s personal lives and using disgusting tactics is not what The Conservative Movement should be about.  IT should be about the war of ideas.

It is a war, but it is a war of Ideas. I may disagree with many on the LEFT, but I do not consider them evil and to be trashed all the time. The outright ugliness of some of the battles I see on Twitter and Facebook, would make anyone want to run away from anything political. No wonder a majority of the general public is disgusted and abhor politics. The idea is to draw people in and to get them to agree with your ideas. And calling people names and making everything under the sun about politics only pushes people away.

We may not agree totally on how the Conservative Movement should proceed, or on who should be the 2016 presidential nominee should be for the GOP, but we should agree that we need to defeat the FAR LEFT. There is too much negativity on social media about all things political. We need a more positive message that will draw more people in, and not force people out.  And it starts with social media.

Yes, social media is the Wild Wild West of politics and there will be trolls out there just to get into arguments.  There is no way to stop that. But to get into cussing wars and long drawn out Twitter Wars does not help out cause.  I block all trolls, and do not even reply when I know they are trolls. There are those that actually want to debate though and we need to engage with them, but do not feed the trolls.
