Herding Cats Football Edition

This primary season for the GOP has been crazy and all over the board.   It is really something I have never seen before.   I know that most primaries are contentious.  But this one has had some vitriol that seems to be usually meant for the other side.

As has been said before, getting conservative all on the same page is like herding cats.   Everyone has their own mind and will defend it all cost.   But at some point, we usually agree to disagree.   But this year is different

Why?

Well I think it is because so much is at stake.  We cannot let Obama win and have another 4 years of anemic economic policies that do more harm that good.  And we need to stop the spending before we turn into Greece.   And we all think we know the exactly the right answer, and our favorite candidate is only one that can fix it.
Some want us to slash the budget (or whatever it is called since the democrats have not proposed a budget in about 1000 days now) right now, and get rid of various departments right off the bat.   Some want to look into and retool the departments and get rid of waste and fraud.  And others want to do various other things to get the spending under control.

So in the long run, they all want to do the same thing.  Maybe not in the exact same way, but all want to stop the spending and get control on the enormous debt we are accumulating.

Let me take this and put it into an analogy of a football game:

You want to score, so you can either pass the ball down the field and go for a Hail Mary Pass

You can go down the field passing short yards, and sometimes passing it further down the field, but keeping it more discipline than throwing it up for grabs with a Hail Mary Pass

You can tak short yardage with a run game and wear the opponents down.

Or you can use a combination of all the above

As you can see, they all are going down the field, but some are taking more yardage than others.  But they are all going towards the goal line and trying to score a touchdown.

For me, I would love to go for the Hail Mary Pass, but is that the most intelligent way to go down the field.   I would rather do the all the above method and get there in a safer manor and get to the goal line.  It may take longer, but there is less chance of a turn over by my side.

We all want the same thing and some of us want everything right now.  And some want to take the safer route.   But we all want the same thing.

We need to be united and all on the same side and score one for the team.   The incessant infighting and vitriol is bad for morale on our side.   I am not saying we should not debate or show the differences in the candidates.  But we must remember one of the remaining 4 (well 3, I do not think Ron Paul will get the nomination) will win the nomination.   The nitpicking over every single aspect of the candidates lives will not help us and will only hurt us in the general.
