The Thanksgiving Proclamation

November 25, 2011 Leave a comment

[New York, 3 October 1789]

By the President of the United States of America. a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor–and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be–That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks–for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation–for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in thecourse and conclusion of the late war–for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed–for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted–for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions–to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually–to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed–to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness onto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord–To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us–and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New-York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

Happy Thanksgiving

November 24, 2011 Leave a comment

There are many things that I am thankful for.

I am thankful that I live in the best country in the world.   A country where we can criticize the Government and not be imprisoned by those in power.  And we live in a country where every 4 years, and also every 2 years we vote and have a peaceful transfer of power.    We may get into highly partisan debates and argue back and forth, but in the end, when the election is over the winner takes over the reigns peacefully,   This little experiment that we call the United States of American is going strong and will be around for a long time.   We may disagree on the direction it is going from time to time though.

I am also thankful for all my friends.   They come from all over the country and all over the world.   From my friend in India to my friend down the street, they all are there when I need someone.  You are all the greatest, and would never want to trade any of you for anyone else.   We may argue , disagree and fight at times, but in the end we all come together.  And many of you have helped me out so much that you do not even know, even if I do not say so, you are what makes me who I am.

And I am also thankful for my family.   They are the ones who shaped me to be the man I am today.   We may not always talk to each other, many are all over this great country, but the internet and cell phones make it easy to stay in touch with each other.  They are the ones that help me when I need it the most.  I wish I could see many of them more than  I do now, but they know that I love each and every one of them.

And finally I am thankful for who I am.   I am not famous, the smartest, the best looking, but I am who I am and I am thankful for that.   And I would not have it any other way.  :)

So tomorrow when you eat a couple pounds of turkey and stuffing, remember to be thankful to all those that are in your life.   They are there for a reason and many times we take them for granite.   And be thankful you live in the best country in the world

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

The Silly Season

November 22, 2011 Leave a comment

As we move along in the primaries, many people have already picked their favorite candidate.    If you have not notices mine is Herman Cain.   I tihnk he is the best in the field.  Does that mean that he is the only one that can beat the WON, or the only Conservative in the field.   Hell NO.   All the candidates have their good qualities and all have their bad qualities, Herman Cain included.

I know those that want thier candidate to win, will show the positives of their candidate.   That is a given, but some are out there trying to tear down every other candidate.   This is not good and will only hurt in the long run.   In the end, one of these candidates will be the GOP candidate

Randy Strue has an excellent post at RedState about the silliness that is going on.

Givens:
“He’s better than Obama.”  – This is true for all(!) of ‘em.

He can beat Obama.” - The same could be — and has been — said about pretty much every candidate in the Republican field. Unless you have new information, let’s just take it for granted.

Of course, generally, when somebody says this of their candidate, the implied meaning is that it is true only of their candidate. Which brings us directly to…

Fluff
Fluff falls into several types. Most of it is little more than masturbation – the kind of thing you find all over unofficial candidate fan sites, designed to make other Candidate X supporters feel good.  There are also the Epic Generalities ((s)he is the ONLY ONE who…), like this one:

He’s the only one that CAN beat Obama!” There’s simply no way this claim can be reasonably made. You can’t possibly know that. If you’re going to say it, back it up and prepare to argue at length with somebody who has said the same thing about their own guy.

He is the ONE” (variously stated as ‘the Name Above All Names‘) – Seriously, without further comment, this statement not only borders on blasphemous, but just reads downright silly. Most of us remember with clarity the last candidate about whom that was said; and we didn’t vote for HIM, either. Again, it may be nice for the Candidate2012 fan forum, but not out in public.

The ONLY TrueConservative(tm).” Bull.  If it were true, all the Conservatives would already be convinced. Get it in your head that Conservatism, while having standard core principles, is varied in execution.

it is good to get passionate about a candidate and to try and convert fellow politicos.   But at some point some of us need to realize that we must agree to disagree on certain issues and candidates in general.  The circular firing squad mentality will only play into the hands of the MSM and the Left.    When the eventual candidate is finally picked, we need to get behind them 100%.   We have to defeat the WON and get the country back on the right track.

As I have said my favorite is Cain, with all the warts and all.   I want someone in the White House that is a leader and knows how to delegate power to the right people.  Does that mean he is the only one?  No.  But I think he is the best of the field at this.   Do I want someone that knows every little aspect of foreign policy, economy or is a policy wonk in the White House?   No.  I want someone that has the big picture in mind and can have good people around to do the nit picking in policy.   (I think the last President that had these qualities was Reagan)

I think the last few presidents we have had have totally gone off the rails and have sold our country down the river for political expediency.  We need to get out of the mold of the career politicians that will do anything to get reelected and will try to be everything to everyone.   We need to have a candidate that has a clear plan and the ability to see it thru.   And to me, Cain has that quality, as he has done with revitalizing the companies he was the CEO of.

As I see it , the race is between Cain, Romney, Perry and Newt.   And I do not want to have the hand picked candidate from the elites on high (Romney).   Think for yourselves and do not let the smears from the MSM and left dictate the GOP primaries.   It should be Republicans that decide,  not the debate moderators, or the political pundits in DC.

We have a great chance this election cycle to change the way DC runs, just as the Tea Party and conservatives did in 2010.   We do not need to fight amongst each other and let the elitists pick our candidate, as they did with McCain.  We have a chance to really put a stop to the leftward track we are going on.

With that said.  everyone get on the Cain Train to get us back on track   :)

GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!
Proof that you can never underestimate the innovativeness of American Farm
Boys: At a high school in Wisconsin , a group of boy students played a prank…….
They let three goats loose inside the school. But, before turning them loose, they painted numbers
on the sides of the goats: 1, 2 and 4.School Administrators spent most of the day looking for No. 3.
Now that’s funny, I don’t care who you are…..
