The Unabomber kills his first victim

Hugh Scrutton is killed in his computer store in Sacramento, California, by a mail package that explodes in his hands. By the time he was finally apprehended, the “Unabomber”–so named because his earliest attacks were directed at universities–had been responsible for the deaths of 3 people and the injuries of 23 others.

The Unabomber detonated his first bomb on May 25, 1978 on the Chicago campus of the University of Illinois. Over the next 15 years, his sporadic attacks kept his identity a mystery to FBI investigators, but in the mid-1990s, he appeared to want more publicity. He increased the frequency of his attacks and sent a letter to The New York Times claiming responsibility on behalf of “FC,” which was later revealed to be the “Freedom Club.”

In late 1994, the Unabomber became very active; Thomas Mosser was killed in his home in New Jersey in December 1994 by a mail bomb, and four months later, another bomb killed Gilbert Murray, a lobbyist for the timber industry. During this time, the Unabomber also began to send notes to the press declaring the “principles” behind his terrorist attacks. When the Unabomber threatened to blow up an airplane flying out of Los Angeles International Airport in 1995, the FBI made his capture a top priority. A sketch of the suspect, who appeared menacing in a hood and sunglasses, was circulated in newspapers and on television.–History.com

More holes in the consensus of Manbearpig

December 10, 2008 Leave a comment

The Minority in the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment And Public Works has a report with over 650 scientists not in agreement that Manbearpig exists. Every year, more and more scientists are coming out against the Myth of Manbearpig.

Here are some excerpts of the report that will be coming out soon:

“I am a skeptic…Global warming has become a new religion.” – Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever.
….

Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” – UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist.

“It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming.” – U.S Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA.

“Many [scientists] are now searching for a way to back out quietly (from promoting warming fears), without having their professional careers ruined.” – Atmospheric physicist James A. Peden, formerly of the Space Research and Coordination Center in Pittsburgh.

These are just a few of the stements by some very prominent scientists. And some were even on the IPCC, and have left because of the politicizing of the science.   Read the whole report.

Blagojevich arrested

December 9, 2008 1 comment

Well, my home blog is down fo the moment and I had get this out somehow.   Rod Blagojevich has been arrested by the FBI along with his chief of staff.  He and Gov Ryan will make great roomates.

Feds take Gov. Blagojevich into custody

Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested today by FBI agents on federal corruption charges.

Blagojevich and Harris were accused of a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy that included Blagojevich conspiring to sell or trade the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama in exchange for financial benefits for the governor and his wife. The governor was also accused of obtaining campaign contributions in exchange for other official actions.

Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning.

A Blagojevich spokesman said he was unaware of the development. “Haven’t heard anything — you are first to call,” Lucio Guerrero said in an e-mail.

The stunning, early morning visit by authorities to the governor’s North Side home came amid revelations that federal investigators had recorded the governor with the cooperation of a longtime confidant and had begun to focus on the possibility that the process of choosing a Senate successor to President-elect Barack Obama could be tainted by pay-to-play politics.

Blagojevich was taken into custody hours after the Tribune reported that the investigation into allegations of pay-to-play politics within his administration had been expanded to include his pending choice of a Senate replacement for Obama. The Democratic governor has said he expects to make a decision on the state’s next senator in weeks.

Sources told the Tribune that investigators intensified their investigation into Blagojevich amid concerns that the process of choosing a new senator could be tainted. The actions by federal authorities came a day before Blagojevich’s 52nd birthday.

The Tribune previously disclosed that federal investigators had recordings of Blagojevich. Those recordings were aided by the cooperation of longtime Blagojevich confidant and former congressional chief of staff John Wyma.

On Monday, Blagojevich said he has done nothing wrong in his stewardship of the state and challenged critics to record him because his discussions were “always lawful.”

Can we just be done with this

December 8, 2008 1 comment

The Supreme Court has refused to hear the Donofrio case and I am sure they will not hear the Berg case either.  So, we on the Conservative side should just put this behind us and act like adults.   Obama won the election.  And all this crap about his citizenship is just like the Left’s cry that Bush was not elected, but selected.   We asconservative are above this petty BS.  Go after his policies, not this crap.   UIt is only makins us look foolish, like the “Bush Lied, People Died” crowd.

We need to stop the litigation of every election.  This is in no way what the Founding Father would want us to be doing.  This is turning into Obama Derangement Syndrome, just like the Left’s Bush Derangement Syndrome.  I for one am not going to go into this kind of idiotic BS.

We have more important things to do than to being doing this crap.   We need to rebuild the Republican Party.   Take it away from Washington Insiders that turned the once Conservative Party into Liberal Lite.   There are more productive things than to doing this.   Join the #dontgo Movement, Grizzly Groundswell, Lets GetThis Right, or many of the other various groups out there.

Court won’t review Obama’s eligibility to serve

This is a heart warming story.   With all the bad things going on in the world, it is nice to see a story with a good ending.  And this is the true meaning of being man’s best friend.

A toddler lost in the Virginia woods was back home safe Sunday thanks to two puppies who kept him warm through a harrowing night of freezing temperatures.

Jaylynn Thorpe, 3, wandered away from his baby-sitter at 4 p.m. Friday and was missing for 21 hours as hundreds of friends, family and law enforcement officials searched for him in the thick woods of Halifax County, fearing the worst.

“The only thing we wanted to do was just keep searching until we found him,” Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin told reporters.

Jaylynn’s frantic family knew time was not on its side.

“We didn’t forget the issue that 17 degrees was almost unbearable,” said his father, James Thorpe.NY Daily News
