Mac???

December 30, 2007 1 comment
You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello,
and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this.
For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please
read on…
If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, "Who’s on First?" might have turned out something like this:

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT
ABBOTT: Super Duper Computer Store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks. I’m setting up an office in my den and I’m thinking  about buying a computer.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name’s Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don’t own a computer. I want to buy one.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name’s Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?
ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?
COSTELLO: I don’t know. What will I see when I look at the  windows?
ABBOTT: Wallpaper.
COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and  software.
ABBOTT: Software for
Windows?
COSTELLO:
No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals,
track expenses and run my business. What do you have?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend  anything?
ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?
ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?
ABBOTT:Yes

COSTELLO: For my office?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!
ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.

COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows!
OK, let’s just say I’m sitting at my computer and I want to type a  proposal What do I need?
ABBOTT: Word.
COSTELLO: What word?
ABBOTT: Word in Office.
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.
ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.

COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?
ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue "W".
COSTELLO: I’m going to click your blue "w" if you don’t start with  some straight answers.
What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my  money with?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: That’s right. What do you
have?
ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?
ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.
COSTELLO: What’s bundled with my computer?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?
ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.
COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How  much?
ABBOTT: One copy.
COSTELLO: Isn’t it illegal to copy money?

ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.
COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?
ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

A few days later:
ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store.  Can I help you?
COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?
ABBOTT: Click on "START

In another study, Fox News comes out as the most Fair and Balanced.  It never fails to show how deranged the Looney Left is in this country when they bitch about Fox News.  They have always had a more balanced approach to news than all the other MSM organizations combined.  But we have another study and lo and behold, Fox News Comes out on top as Fair And Balanced.   BUt the Left will still pout and whine about Fox News because ti actually shows the other side of the story that the MSM does not.

Obama, Huckabee Fare Best;
FOX Is Most Balanced (not a typo)

TV election news has been hardest on Hillary Clinton this fall, while Barack Obama and Mike
Huckabee have been the biggest media favorites, according to a new study by the Center for Media
and Public Affairs (CMPA) at George Mason University
. The study also found that Fox
NewsChannels evening news show provided more balanced coverage than its counterparts on the
broadcast networks.

Calhoun resigns vice presidency

Citing political differences with President Andrew Jackson and a desire to fill a vacant Senate seat in South Carolina, John C. Calhoun becomes the first vice president in U.S. history to resign the office.

Born near Abbeville, South Carolina, in 1782, Calhoun was an advocate of states’ rights and a defender of the agrarian South against the industrial North. Calhoun served as secretary of war under President James Monroe and in 1824 ran for the presidency. However, bitter partisan attacks from other contenders forced him out of the race, and he had to settle for the vice presidency under President John Quincy Adams. In 1828, he was again elected vice president while Andrew Jackson won the presidency. Calhoun soon found himself politically isolated from national affairs under President Jackson. On December 12, 1832, Calhoun was elected to fill a South Carolina Senate seat left vacant after the resignation of Senator Robert Hayne. Sixteen days later, he resigned the vice presidency.

For the rest of his political life, Calhoun defended the slave-plantation system against the growing anti-slavery stance of the free states. In the early 1840s, while secretary of state under President John Tyler, he secured the admission of Texas into the Union as a slave state.

Together with Andrew Jackson, Daniel Webster, and Henry Clay, John C. Calhoun dominated American political life in the first half of the 19th century.

USS New York

A new ship for the battle against the Islamo-fascists.

Uss_new_york

USS New York

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the WorldTrade Center .

It
is the fifth in a new class of warship – designed for missions that
include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of
360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by
helicopters and assault craft.

Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite , LA  to
cas t the ship’s bow section. When it was poured into the molds on
Sept. 9, 2003 , ‘those big rough steelworkers treated it with total
reverence,’ recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. ‘It was a
spiritual moment for everybody there.’

Junior Chavers, foundry
operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first
arrived, he touched it with his hand and the ‘hair on my neck stood
up.’ ‘It had a big meaning to it for all of us,’ he said. ‘They knocked
us down. They can’t keep us down. We ‘re going to be back.’

The ship’s motto? ‘Never Forget’

Please keep this going so
everyone can see what we are made of in this country!

Bhutto Killed in Suicide Bomb

December 27, 2007 Leave a comment

Why am I not really surprised by this.  There were many people that hated Bhutto more than Musharraf did.  I think that her house arrest earlier was for her own protection.  This will make Pakistan very interesting, she did have some very loyal support, and many of her supporters are going to blame Musharraf for her death.

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (AP)—Pakistani
opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday in a suicide
bombing that also killed at least 20 others at a campaign rally, a
party aide and a military official said.

HMS Beagle departs England

British naturalist Charles Darwin sets out from Plymouth, England, aboard the HMS Beagle
on a five-year surveying expedition of the southern Atlantic and
Pacific oceans. Visiting such diverse places as the Galapagos Islands
and New Zealand, Darwin acquired an intimate knowledge of the flora,
fauna, and geology of many lands. This information proved invaluable in
the development of his theory of evolution, first put forth in his
groundbreaking scientific work of 1859, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection.

Darwin’s
theory argued that organisms gradually evolve through a process he
called "natural selection." In natural selection, organisms with
genetic variations that suit their environment tend to propagate more
descendants than organisms of the same species that lack the variation,
thus influencing the overall genetic makeup of the species. Most
scientists quickly embraced the theory that solved so many puzzles of
biological science, but orthodox Christians condemned the work as
heresy. Controversy over Darwin’s ideas deepened with the publication
of The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex (1871), in which he presented evidence of man’s evolution from apes.

By
the time of Darwin’s death in 1882, his theory of evolution had become
generally accepted. In honor of his scientific work, he was buried in
Westminster Abbey beside kings, queens, and other illustrious figures
from British history. Subsequent developments in genetics and molecular
biology led to modifications in accepted evolutionary theory, but
Darwin’s ideas remain central to the field.

Fred Thompson BlogBurst

Update at the bottom****

Well it is getting very close to the day the first caucus begins and Fred Thompson needs our help.  We need to help him get out his message out and show that he is the true conservative in the Republican race for President on the United States.

Rick Moran at RightWing NutHouse had a great idea that all the bloggers out there for Thompson start a fund drive for the next 2 days.

Here is the email he sent out to fellow bloggers that were on Flopping Aces list of Fredhead bloggers.

Dear Friends,

I am writing to ask for your help.

All of
us know the long odds faced by Fred Thompson in his efforts to win the
GOP nomination for president. I’m sure you are all aware that Fred has
undertaken pretty much of a do or die bus tour of Iowa in order to
finish strongly in the Caucuses on January 3.

Many of you have
already taken steps to support the Thompson campaign in a tangible way
by placing fundraising widgets on your sidebar and writing about the
campaign. In this way, each of us alone has done whatever we can to
support Fred in his efforts.

But at this, the 11th hour of the
campaign in Iowa, I think it would be a very effective fundraising tool
if as many of us as possible were to participate in an old-fashioned
Blogburst, writing a post asking readers to donate to the campaign
while embedding a fundraising widget in the post for convenience.

I
propose Thursday, December 27 for the Blogburst. If you have an email
list, I would urge you to ask your subscribers to donate. If you know
of other bloggers who support Fred, please forward this email and ask
them to participate as well.

Not expecting a “money bomb” but
even a few tens of thousands of dollars would help, I’m sure. Given the
number of readers represented in the blogs listed here (where I got all
of your email addresses) and your cooperation, I feel confident we can
give a real shot in the arm to the campaign.

I don’t think any
of us believe that our endorsement of Thompson alone means that much in
the long run. But working together, uniting for one day and speaking
with one voice, I think we could make a significant impact on Fred’s
chances in Iowa. After all, when the candidate you support rolls the
dice as Fred has, the least we can do is back his play to the best of
our ability.

No need to respond to this email. Just do it.

Merry Christmas,

Rick Moran
Right Wing Nuthouse
